Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship

As a member of the department of radiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, each fellow spends all of his/her time assigned to the musculoskeletal imaging and interventional services within the musculoskeletal reading room which is located on 2nd floor of the Clinical Center UF Health Jacksonville and UF Health Outpatient Imaging – Emerson.

Clinical Practice Roles and Responsibilities

  • Interpret all diagnostic musculoskeletal imaging, including CR, CT, DECT, MRI and US
  • Supervise diagnostic radiology residents on MSK rotation
  • Recommend appropriate diagnostic MSK imaging
  • Perform all interventional MSK procedures using imaging guidance
  • Consult with patients regarding imaging and procedural recommendations
  • Participate in faculty weekend general radiology call schedule
  • Participate in MSK multidisciplinary conferences, including orthopedic oncology, arthroscopy/MRI correlation and rheumatology

Scholarly Activity

The fellow will:

  • Present one of two monthly noon case presentations for the residents
  • Submit a minimum of two manuscripts to peer reviewed journals as approved by the fellowship program director, a research meeting will be held monthly

Research

The MSK imaging fellow is encouraged to participate in departmental and multi-disciplinary research projects. The department of radiology employs a full-time research manager to facilitate research endeavors. The University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville encourages resident/fellow research through the availability of Dean’s Fund Research Awards and an annual Research Day, with residents and fellows from all disciplines presenting their work.
