Program Director's Welcome Breast Imaging and Intervention Fellowship Smita Sharma, M.B.B.S. (M.D.) Program Director Welcome to the Breast Imaging and Intervention Fellowship Program in the department of radiology's division of women's imaging at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. We are pleased to offer a one-year dedicated breast imaging and intervention fellowship position. The fellowship is designed to enhance an individual's skills in a multitude of techniques related to breast imaging, preparing the candidate for a successful career in the academic or private practice setting. Assignment to the clinical rotations includes interpretation of cases, supervision of residents, performance of procedures and preparation for multiple interdisciplinary conferences. The fellowship offers experience with state-of-the-art breast imaging modalities, including digital mammography, breast ultrasound, MRI and digital breast tomosynthesis (3-D mammography). The fellow has ample opportunity to perfect techniques required for percutaneous breast biopsies, using stereotactic, tomosynthesis, ultrasound and MR guidance. Also, pre-surgical lesion localization procedures utilizing I-125 radioactive seeds are performed routinely. Fellows are given the opportunity to pursue research and clinical interests, as well as, attend daily didactic noon teaching conference. Case presentations are made by the fellow at both our breast health team multidisciplinary weekly case conference and monthly breast radiology-pathology correlation conference.
