Bilateral Hypertrophic Olivary Degeneration: A Retrospective Review and Examination of Causative Pathology

Study Description

Hypertrophic Olivary Degeneration (HOD) is more commonly bilateral and results from a more variable spectrum of pathology than previously described increasing the opportunity for misdiagnosis by the radiologist.

We will retrospectively review imaging anatomy of the rubro olivary dentate tract (ROD) and medullary brainstem in the clinical charts for 15 patients within the UF Health Jacksonville PACS system. We will perform a retrospective case review series for the last five years, with dates ranging from 10/01/2014, through 10/01/2019. The inclusion criteria for patients is positive diagnostic and imaging findings of HOD at our institution. Patient number will not exceed 15 patients

We will identify cases using mPower and Visage PACS and export diagnostic information onto a spreadsheet. This includes reviewing the age, sex, clinical symptoms, and imaging findings of HOD on MRI.

Analysis will consist on reviewing anatomical findings of HOD lesions on each patient.
