Patient Care

We provide state-of-the-art imaging that includes 2D and 3D digital mammography, breast ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), image-guided biopsies, I-125 seed localization for breast malignancies and bone densitometry (DEXA scans). Our division is comprised of dedicated breast imaging faculty who interpret the exams and perform all image-guided biopsies. Imaging examinations are interpreted through an advanced picture-archiving communication system (Visage PACS).

Our breast imaging radiologists provide services in three dedicated breast imaging centers across Jacksonville. All the imaging services and biopsy procedures are provided in convenient locations throughout Jacksonville: our downtown campus on W. 8th St., Tower II; our Southside Emerson Medical Plaza campus; and at UF Health North on Max Leggett Parkway.

At UF Health, we perform our exams using the latest technology. The screening mammograms are performed using a digital breast tomosynthesis (3D mammography) technique for higher sensitivity and accuracy. Other on-site equipment includes ultrasound scanners, multiple 3.0 T, 1.5 T and 1.2 T MRI units, DEXA scanners and advanced equipment for biopsies.

Education

The division of women’s imaging provides a well-structured educational program for medical students, residents and fellows – including a one-year, non-standard fellowship in advanced breast imaging modalities. The program includes daily teaching at the workstation, didactic conferences and weekly multidisciplinary breast conferences with educational materials provided at all levels.
