The division of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging in the department of radiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville is comprised of dual board-certified radiologists, who provide a full spectrum of diagnostic imaging and radioisotope therapies. In addition to routine nuclear medicine and molecular imaging procedures, we offer the latest techniques and equipment in imaging to enhance diagnostic accuracy.

Patient Care

We provide the following advanced imaging techniques:

  • F-18 Fluoride whole body PET/CT bone scan to detect metastatic bone disease
  • F-18 Fluciclovine PET/CT imaging for prostate cancer
  • Ga-68 Dotatate PET/CT imaging for neuroendocrine neoplasms
  • SPECT/CT imaging

Our institution is at the forefront of radioisotope therapies, such as radioactive I-131 therapy for hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer and radioactive radium-223 for metastatic bone disease.

Education

The division of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging is involved in the department’s ACGME-accredited diagnostic radiology residency program and undergraduate medical education elective/clerkship courses for fourth-year medical students.

Research

Patients may have the opportunity to enroll in one of our multiple research trials, if deemed appropriate by a physician. Our ACR-accredited equipment includes six SPECT gamma cameras, one hybrid SPECT/CT and two hybrid PET/CT scanners.
