Clinical Radiology – Jacksonville (RAD E 1J)
The Clinical Radiology rotation with UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville will consist of a two-week or four-week experience with exposure to topics in a variety of radiology subspecialties, including thoracic imaging, abdominal imaging, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal imaging, pediatric imaging, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, breast imaging, radiation safety, and MRI safety. The Medical Student is able to choose which particular sub-specialties they would like to focus on for each week of their rotation with the Clerkship Director. Reading materials are provided at the beginning of the rotation. Daily teaching sessions, noon conference, and interaction with radiology residents will be incorporated into the rotation. The rotation also affords multiple research opportunities in all subspecialties.
Specific goals include:
- Understand the role of the radiologist in the care of patients.
- Understand the basics of radiation dose and how that translates to safe imaging.
- Understand the value and limitation of various imaging procedures.
- Discuss the fundamentals of radiologic diagnosis and therapy in various clinical situations.
- Prepare and present a 15-minute PowerPoint presentation on a topic approved by the Clerkship Director by the end of your rotation.
